Family Housing
NAS Meridian Family Housing (FH) would like to be your housing of choice! Over the past five years, the Navy has spent in excess of $25 million renovating Meridian’s FH assets. NAS Meridian now provides some of the most modern FH homes in the Navy. Considering the distance and commute time from most off-base housing, rent, high utility rates, escalating transportation costs, and the proximity to all military support services, Family Housing is your best, safest, and most secure housing option. Additionally, the local public schools provide transportation service for all students who attend public schools. All families, regardless of size, will have access to a minimum of three bedrooms. Families that meet the requirements will have access to a four bedroom units. If you choose to live in town but later decide that you prefer to live on base, you must have applied for on base housing within 30-days of initial arrival to be eligible for a government-funded move later.
NAS Meridian FH has a privatized partner, Balfour Beatty Communities. Upon arrival, you should check in with the Family Housing Office (located in Family Housing, open Monday thru Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). The FH staff will answer most of your questions, and then refer you to Balfour Beatty.
There is a two-pet limit in base housing (no exotic, wild, or farm animals – only dogs, cats, birds, and fish are permitted). The following dog breeds are considered aggressive and are not permitted: Akita, American Bull Dog, Chow, Doberman, Pit Bull, and Rottweiler.
NAS Meridian has a total of 163 family housing units (61 officer homes in the Juniper Ridge housing area; 102 enlisted homes in the Pine Crest area). There is currently no wait time for family housing, but please contact the family housing office prior to your arrival at Meridian for updated information.
An applicant's control date on the waiting list is determined by the date of detachment from their last duty station prior to reporting to Meridian. In order to keep this date, you must apply no later than 30 days after you have reported to your new command.
For more information about Family Housing, please see the Family Housing section. To view photos and floor plans and find more detailed information about policies, please visit theBalfour Beatty Communities website.
Single Service Member Housing
The NTTC dorms consist of 968 total beds, arranged into mods that house a maximum of 12 students each (3 students maximum per bedroom; 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and 1 common area per mod). The MATSS-1 dorms consist of 276 total beds, arranged into mods that house a maximum of 4 students each (2 students per bedroom; 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom per mod). In addition to general base restrictions, the following are prohibited in NTTC and MATSS-1 dorms: alcohol, lighter fluid (and other HAZMAT), pets, and weapons (including knives with 4"+ blades).
Single Sailors and Marines who are eligible for BAH may live in Family Housing (and may room together to share costs) – application procedures are described above in the Family Housing section.
Off-base housing (apartments, mobile homes, and homes for rent and sale) for single service members is available in the local community. Furnished apartments are somewhat scarce in the area, however, and many off-base housing choices require a fairly long commute to NAS Meridian. Please see the Non-Government Housing section below for more information.
Exceptional Family Member Housing
Family Housing does have AHA housing units available, and efforts will be made to give priority for these homes to families with Exceptional Family Members (EFMs). All base housing units are air conditioned, and Balfour Beatty does have generators available for families with significant medical needs who require power for their medical equipment.
