NAS Whiting Field is located in the Northwest Florida Panhandle near the city of Milton. The Whiting Field/Milton area is noted for its pleasant overall quality of life and relaxed atmosphere. Located in Santa Rosa County, Milton along with neighboring City of Pace, has a large military retiree population and is definitely considered a Military Town. History
Once known as the most industrialized county in Florida, Santa Rosa's history is abundant with the lore of the logging, sawmills, and shipbuilding industries around which life evolved. Mission
Our mission is to efficiently provide the best services and material support for training U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard and International student aviators. Whiting Field also provides support for tenant activities and outside organizations.
Population Served
Whiting Field serves a population of over 2,680 Active Duty personnel, approximatley 2,700 Family members and 9,100 retirees. There are 1,161 civilian employees, 210 non-appropriated funded employees, and 719 contract employees.

Currently, there is no base transportation on this installation.
Sponsorship
Personnel reporting to Naval Air Station Whiting Field may contact the Command Sponsor Coordinator at the Fleet & Family Support Center (FFSC) at 850-623-7177 or DSN 312-868-7177 for sponsorship information including obtaining a Welcome Aboard Packet. Personnel reporting to Training Air Wing 5 (TRW-5) as a Flight Student may contact TRW-5 Student Control at 850-623-7148 or DSN 312-868-7148. Flight Instructors and TRW-5 staff personnel may contact TRW-5 administrative department at 850-623-7704 or DSN 312-868-7704.
If checking in during normal working hours (Monday-Friday, 7:30 am until 4 pm) report to the Administrative Department in Bldg. 1401, 2nd floor, room 207. If checking in any other time, report to the Bachelor Quarters in Bldg. 2957.

NAS Whiting Field does not have a U.S. Post Office but there is a mail Room that handles all incoming and outgoing mail. The Mail Room will not hold or store mail for a Servicemember that has not checked in. Servicemembers should not forward mail to the Command until they have checked in.
Directions to NAS Whiting Field
NAS Whiting Field is located approximately 28 miles from the Pensacola Regional Airport and about eight miles from Downtown Milton off of Highway 87. From Highway 90 in Downtown Milton take Highway 87 North to get to NAS Whiting Field.
Airports
The Pensacola Florida Regional Airport serves the NAS Whiting Field/Milton area. There is no shuttle service to and from the Airport. Taxi Service is available at the Airport and it will cost you approximately $50.00 to get to NAS Whiting Field.
When you arrive at the front gate, please have your military Identification card available and be prepared to show it to the gate guard. The gate guard will then direct you to the appropriate place to check in.
