Langley Inprocessing Procedures
Travel Planning
Call and make reservations for temporary lodging as early as possible. A statement of non-availability is required from the Langley Inns for reimbursement of off base lodging costs. Ensure you check in with the Inns before booking off base lodging, or you will not be reimbursed for these costs.
Reporting Procedures
If you arrive at Langley AFB during normal duty hours, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, report directly to your gaining unit's Commander's Support Staff. You will receive notification of the Right Start schedule, memorandum and map to the Community Commons. Registration with the A&FRC is not required.
Right Start includes a welcome and mission brief by the 633rd Air Base Wing Commander, information regarding various base agencies and medical in-processing. Right Start is held at the JBLE Community Commons from 0800-1200. The Community Commons is located next to the CDC at 74 Burrell Loop. Attendees are provided an introduction to JBLE and the surrounding area. Spouse attendance is highly encouraged. Childcare is not provided on site. If childcare is needed, stop by the Airman & Family Readiness Center with a copy of your orders and ask about Childcare for PCS. It's 20 hours of FREE childcare, per child, paid for by the Air Force Aid Society. You must have a voucher from the JBLE A&FRC to utilize this service. Vouchers can be used up to 60 days after arrival.
Personnel arriving after normal duty hours should report to the 24-hour Base Lodging Office, 44 Taylor Rd, Langley AFB, Va., (757) 764-4667.
On the next duty day, report to your gaining unit. If you do not know where your unit is located, report to the Personnel Employment Office located in the MPF, 45 Nealy Ave Suite 218, Langley AFB, Va., (757) 764-2704 /4230.
Personnel must be in uniform during in-processing. Members must have several copies of their orders and all hand-carried records received from their previous base.
Dormitory Living: If you are single with no dependents you will be assigned to a dormitory room. For entry, contact your sponsor, supervisor or first sergeant. Do not sign into lodging; fees will not be reimbursed.
Be sure to contact your sponsor prior to your arrival. Your sponsor can assist you with all of the check in procedures and show you around the installation. If you do not have a sponsor contact your unit's First Sergeant or the Airman & Family Readiness Center for assistance.
What to do if you Get Married Enroute
If you get married before you PCS, you must inform your commander and follow the procedures exactly as you are given them. The military will not pay for travel and housing of your spouse if you do not follow proper procedures.
