Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville, a multi-mission base hosting more than 100 tenant commands. Located in Duval County, along the west bank of the St. John's River in northeast Florida, it is a 20-minute ride to the heart of the City of Jacksonville. MISSION
Support to the Navy War fighter. NAS Jacksonville is home to the P-3C Orion long-range anti-submarine reconnaissance and maritime patrol aircraft, the SH-60F Seahawk anti-submarine warfare helicopters, S-3B Viking Sea Control aircraft, C-40A and C-12 aircraft.

Directions to NAS Jacksonville
NAS Jacksonville is located SW of the City of Jacksonville along the west side of the St. John's River.
Airport
Jacksonville Airport is located 18 miles north of downtown Jacksonville, Florida, is situated in close proximity to Interstates I-95 and I-295/ Florida 9A.
Jacksonville International Airport JAX, was just quoted by the New York Times Magazine as one of the cheapest airports to fly out of in the country and is not only the gateway to the City of Jacksonville, Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Southeast Georgia but also to Florida's sandy beaches, and offers passengers great service, art exhibits and live music, rocking chairs & free WiFi. The Airport is managed by the Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA).
With two runways and an estimated 5.6 million passengers a year, Jacksonville Airport is served presently by American, AirTran, Delta, Continental, JetBlue, Southwest, United & US Airways, offering non-stop flights to major US Cities, with connections around the world. In May 2011 JetBlue started a new route to Puerto Rico.
The baggage claim area is located on level-1 of the main passenger terminal; on level 2 is the ticketing area and pre- and post-security areas are on the Mezzanine level. The terminal has two new Concourses A & C (a new Concourse B is to open soon). The Main Terminal features a large courtyard with several eating options and a stage were local bands perform at the end of each month.
The 'Preferred Customers' (as defined by their airlines), are able to use the Preferred Passenger Lane, as well as all passengers with boarding passes for First or Business Class.
Parking
Parking options at JAX Airport includes Hourly and Daily Parking Garage in front of the passenger terminal, with the Daily Surface lot right behind it.
Economy Lots 1, 2 and 3 are located on Pecan Park Road
Economy Lot 3 is designated for Holidays and special events only and is the most expensive parking option
Valet Parking is available from AirValet; curbside valet customers can receive their boarding pass at the valet booth located on the upper level call 904-741-1005
Free shuttles run between all parking lots and the terminal 24/7
Transportation
You can rent a car, take a taxi, a shuttle bus or the public bus. All ground transportation services including rental car agencies, taxi and limousine services are located on the lower level of the passenger terminal adjacent to the baggage claim. See transportation services available below:

Public Bus: The INS-33 Air-JTA Express bus connects the Airport with downtown Jacksonville. Route information and schedules are located in the passenger’s terminal information booth. For more information call 904-630-3100.
Driving from the Jacksonville International Airport
After you pick up your rental car, proceed down Airport Road 1/2 mile and turn right on Duval Road. Proceed along Duval Road and take the on-ramp to I-295 south. I-295 south takes you west of the city and helps alleviate some of the city traffic congestion. Stay on I-295 south for approximately 22 miles. As you approach the Town of Orange Park, you want to take Exit 10 to Hwy 17 / NAS Jacksonville. After you exit, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic light onto Hwy 17 heading north. In approximately two miles you will pass the Birmingham Gate and another 1/4 miles you need to turn right onto Yorktown Ave, the Main gate entrance to NAS Jacksonville. The Security, pass and decal building is located in building 9 on your immediate right.
NAS, Jacksonville is approximately 35 miles from Jacksonville International Airport. Take I-95 South to I-295 South. Exit at US 17. Take US 17 North to Jacksonville Main gate (Yorktown Gate) approximate 2.5 miles on right. The Gate Guard will direct you to your desired destination once on the installation.
Driving Directions
From I-95 North (from Daytona Beach): Take I-295 North over the Buchman Bridge. Exit at U.S. 17. Take U.S. 17 North approximately 2.5 miles to NAS Jacksonville main gate.
From I-95 South (from Brunswick, Georgia): Take I-10 West just after downtown Jacksonville. Stay in left lane and exit at U.S. 17 South. Take U.S. 17 South about 6.5 miles to NAS Jacksonville main gate.
From I-10 East (from Tallahassee): Take I-295 South. Exit at U.S. 17. Take U.S. 17 North approximately 2.5 miles to NAS Jacksonville main gate.
NAS, Jacksonville Base Traffic Patterns
In the morning three lanes of the Birmingham Road (South Gate) is one way entering the base from 6:00a.m.-8:00a.m. The far right lane is a right turn only. The Yorktown Road (Main Gate) three lanes are inbound and one-way 4:30a.m.-8:00a.m. and will be marked as one way with signal lights. There is only one lane outbound in the morning for Yorktown and one for Birmingham at the intersection with Allegheny (right turn only).
In the afternoon the Yorktown Road (Main Gate) has three lanes exiting and will be marked as one way 3:10p.m.-5:00p.m. with signal lights. There is only one incoming lane in the afternoon for both gates. Birmingham Road (South Gate) has three lanes outbound from 2:45p.m.-5:00p.m.
