Family Child Care (FCC)
Family Child Care (FCC) providers offer child care children ages 4 weeks to 12 years in their government quarters on Fort Belvoir, as well as off post homes. FCC offers full-day, hourly, and before and after school services. FCC trains, certifies and monitors family members who provide child care in government quarters. FCC homes provide the same care programs as the Child Development Centers (CDCs) plus have some additional benefits. Homelike atmospheres, opportunities for siblings to be in care together, and more flexible hours than the CDCs are hall marks of FCC benefits. Some providers offer evening, night, and extended care options for parents with non traditional work schedules.
School Age Services (SAS)
The School Age Services program has been accredited by National School Age Child Care Association (NSACA). The Markham SAS building has been recently renovated and has a state of the art computer lab, a wonderful library/homework area, awesome activity areas and a fantastic playground.
The program follows the bell schedule of Fort Belvoir Elementary School. Children are walked to the school, departing the center at 8:45 a.m. and return to the school at 3:45 p.m. Full day care is offered during school-out days. This program provides activities which supplement the Fairfax County Public School curriculum.
Respite Care
Respite Care is available on Fort Belvoir at Army Community Service. For more information please call 703-805-5435 or DSN 312-655-5435.
