Legal Services
The Columbus AFB Legal Office assists active duty, retirees and their families. Limited services are available for reserve and guard members unless they are on orders for 30 days or more. The following services are available at the legal office:
- Notary
- Wills
- Legal assist
- Tax assistance
The base legal office has expanded their hours for walk-in notaries and powers of attorney (POAs). Walk-in POA/notary services will be available from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, making easier than ever to obtain these important legal services.
Will service is available by appointment, but walk-ins will be accommodated in deployment situations.
Our goal is to make legal services readily available to our base population as efficiently as possible, focusing on our deployers and their family members. You can reach the Legal Office at 662-434-7030.
Claims Service
When a member's household goods are delivered, all damaged or missing items should be listed on the DD Form 1840/R (pink copies). All items found before the carrier leaves goes on the front of the pink copy (DD Form 1840). All items found after the carrier leaves goes on the back of the pink copy (DD Form 1840/R). The member has 70 days from the date their household goods are delivered to bring the pink copies into our office. Once you bring them in, the claims representative will give you more information.
