Base Regulations
Seat Belts -- It is an on-base requirement for all passengers in automobiles manufactured after 1964, to use seat belts.
Hands Free Cell Phone -- Drivers must have hands free cells phone capabilities while driving on base. In order for a driver of a motor vehicle to utilize their cellular device the driver must have hands free capabilities, may it be through the car audio system, blue tooth, or any form of hands free devices.
Car Seats -- Children under the age of six will be secured in a child safety seat approved by the Department of Public Safety.
Motorcycles -- All motorcycle riders must complete the Motorcycle Safety Course.
Parking -- Do not park in a reserved space (Example: "RES 0210" painted on the pavement). Do not park in a visitor space within two blocks of your work area. Do park in spaces defined by white lines or bumper blocks. Do park your motorcycle in designated parking spaces. Visitor spaces are for two hours unless otherwise marked.
Speed Limit -- The speed limit on base is 35 MPH unless otherwise posted. The Security Police are responsible for enforcing the speed limits and all other traffic laws.
Vehicle Checks -- Vehicles may be stopped and inspected at any of the base entrances. Military Working Dogs are periodically used to detect illicit drugs and firearms being transported onto and off of the base.
If you purchase a car and wish to have a courtesy check conducted by the SPS Drug Detector Dogs, you may contact the Security Police Kennel Master at 478-926-2697. You must have the check conducted within 15 days of the purchase of the vehicle.
Restricted Areas -- There are several restricted areas on base that are clearly marked with painted lines and restricted area signs. Entry to these areas is strictly limited to those personnel who have a re-occurring need to enter.
Photography -- Restricted areas are marked and there is to be no photographing in these areas.
Weapons -- All privately-owned weapons, whether kept in base housing or the SP Armory, must be registered with Pass and Registration. No weapons will be kept in the dormitories.
