Fort Bragg

Fort Bragg is located just west of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Known throughout its history for its cultural diversity and military presence, today the Fayetteville area stands testament to its proud past. Many structures have been painstakingly preserved to reflect this history in four designated historic districts: Downtown Historic District, Haymount Historic District, Liberty Point National Register District and Market House Square National Register District. Fayetteville is a "Community of History, Heroes, and a Hometown Feeling". Fayetteville was one of only 10 cities in the United States in 2001 to receive the coveted "All-America City" award from the National Civic League.

HOTELS AND LODGING: 

Book your hotel.  Fort Bragg on-post temporary lodging is in Forrestal Hall and Delmont House, Hardy Hall, Moon Hall, and Normandy House and Carolina Inn. The closest off-post accommodations are near the Honeycutt Gate along Bragg Blvd. There are many more hotels and motels 4 miles south of the post between Fort Bragg and Fayetteville.

POST/AREA DIRECTIONS:
If you are arriving by commercial airline, the Fayetteville Regional Airport is located approximately 12 miles from Fort Bragg.  From the airport terminal to Hwy 301 it is about 1.5 miles. Turn right on Hwy 301 and follow onto the intersection of OWEN Dr. (to your left) and WILKES Street (to your right). Make a left turn onto Owen Dr. stay on Owen Dr. (it will become All American Freeway), follow the All American Freeway until you arrive at Reilly Street. Exit, once you are on Reilly Street. Get in your left lane and turn left at the light on to Normandy Drive you wll see the Soldier Support Center on your left.

If your are traveling by POV, I-95 South you will take exit 56 toward Fayetteville, Fort Bragg, Pope AFB, US 301 South. You will make a right at the first light on to Grove Street / NC-24/ NC-210 at the end you will turn right onto Bragg BLVD /NC-24/ NC-210. Continue to follow Bragg BLVD to SANTA FE Drive. Turn left on SANTA FE Drive at the next light you will murge onto the ALL AMERICAN FWY. This will bring you in to Fort Bragg once you pass though the Access Control Point you will take the second exit which is the Reilly Street. Get in your left lane and turn left at the on to Normandy Drive you will see the Soldier Support Center on your left.  

If tou are traveling by POV, I95 North you will Merge onto I-95 BR N /US-301 N toward Fayetteville/ Fort Bragg/ Pope AFB. Continue on US-301 for approximately 7.3 mile Turn left on to Owen Drive continue on Owen Drive it will turn into All American FEY. it will bring you into Fort Bragg once you pass though the Accsee Control Point you will take the secont exit which is Reilly Street. Get in your left lane and turn left at the light onto Normandy Drive you will see the Soldier Support Center on your left.

If you are going to the Billeting Office (Moon Hall), make the first exit after the Access Control Point on to Gruber Rd. make a right at the stop light, follow Gruber Rd. until you get to the intersection of Gruber and Reilly Rd., make a right turn at Reilly Rd., and try to stay in the left lane, follow for two blocks and turn left on Bastogne Dr., go to Darby Loop. (Next entrance) and turn left.Moon Hall (Billeting Office)will be on your left.   If you are going to one of the Guest Houses (Delmont or Leal House) follow until you reach the Gruber and Reilly Road intersection. Make a right turn on Reilly Rd.; go for 2 blocks, Leal House will be on your right, behind the NCO Club.If your are going to the Delmont House, stay on Reilly Rd., (try to stay in the left lane) make a left turn on Bastogne Rd. and follow for 2 blocks, Delmont House will be on your left (in front of the Fort Bragg Credit Union).

HISTORY
Fort Bragg is the home of the Airborne.  For more than half a century, Fort Bragg has had a proud heritage as the Home of the Nation's Finest fighting forces.   The XVIII Airborne Corps was originally activated as the II Armored Corps at Camp Polk, LA., Jan 17, 1942.  It was redesignated XVIII Corps Oct 9, 1943 at the Presidio of Monterey, California.   The Corp's birthday is Aug 25, 1944.   The same day the XVIII Airborne Corps assumed command of the 82d and 101st Airborne Divisions.

MISSION
Maintain America's Contingency Corps as a strategic crisis response force manned and trained to deploy rapidly by air, sea, and land anywhere in the world, prepared to fight upon arrival and win. Fort Bragg is the largest US Army base by population. It is known as the Home of the Airborne and Special Operation Force. Fort Bragg houses the XVIII Airborne Corps and the 82nd Airborne Division. The U.S. Army Special Operations Command and the U.S. Army Parachute Team (the Golden Knights). Fort Bragg units include the 1st Corps Support Command, 44th Medical Command, XVIII Airborne Corps Artillery, 18th Aviation Brigade, 35th Signal Brigade, and more.

Fort Bragg serves a population of 52,280 active duty Soldiers; 12,624 Reserve Components and Temporary Duty students; 8,757 civilian employees; 3,516 Contractors; 62,962 active duty family members. There are 98,507 Army retirees and family members.
