    • Proficiency in State Standards
      • For the first time, students in Wyoming will have to show that they are proficient in the Wyoming State Academic and Performance Standards. The standards are written across the nine content areas with performance indicators, which describe what exactly proficiency means and looks like.
      • Students must be able to show that they are proficient at the 11th grade level performance indicators. Proficiency in the standards will be measured by LCSD#2 Body of Evidence System. The Body of Evidence is a collection of assessments that have been gathered across the content areas throughout the grades of 9-12. This collection of assessments will be able to give the district the information that it needs to determine whether a student will receive a high school diploma or not. The assessments are of high quality and have been developed by teachers in our district and across the state of Wyoming. The importance of the Body of Evidence system is to ensure the following in assessments: consistency, fairness, comparability, standard setting, and alignment.
      • It is important to remember that classroom grades do not correlate directly with proficiency in the standards. Classroom grades are based on many factors such as turning in homework on time, completion of classroom work and test scores.  Course curriculum covers more than just the standards. Therefore, a letter grade of C in a course does not necessarily mean that you are proficient in the standards. However, if you have learned the course content thoroughly, you will probably be able to demonstrate proficiency on the district assessment for that area.
    • Diploma
      • Laramie County School District (LCSD)#2 will continue to offer one high school diploma. • Home Schooling
    • Homeschooling is an increasingly popular educational alternative in which children learn outside of conventional schools under the general supervision of their parents.  Some homeschooling families operate like small-scale versions of conventional schools, with textbooks and tests and traditional grades.  Others adapt ideas from alternative educational philosophies and give children considerable control over what is learned and how learning takes place.  There are numerous websites dedicated to those that wish to home school.  Explore the world-wide web for the many homeschooling options available.
  • Private Schools
    • The City of Cheyenne has faith based private school opportunities for children.  Contact the School Liaison Officer at the Airman & Family Readiness Center for more information by calling 307-773-5943.
