- Schools
- Tinker AFB resides in Oklahoma County in the Mid-Del School District. . Residents living on the installation will attend Tinker Elementary (grades PreK-5), Jarman Middle School (grades 6-8), and Midwest City High School (grades 9-12). - For all families relocating to Tinker, it is important to understand that the school your child attends is determined by your address or where you live and the corresponding district boundaries. There are many neighboring communities where military families choose to live, including, but not limited to, Norman, Moore, Edmond, Oklahoma City, and Choctaw-Nicoma Park (to list a few of the largest districts). Midwest City and Del City are situated just outside the base and are primarily covered by the Mid-Del School District.

- The Military Interstate Children's Compact Commission (MIC3) works to create consistency in policy that addresses issues military children encounter during transitions, such as enrollment, placement, attendance, eligibility, and graduation. - Bus
- In general, bus transportation is provided for all students living in excess of one (1) mile from school. Students with special needs and requiring specialized transportation will be coordinated with the district and the Special Services Department. This service may depend on the child's Individialized Education Plan (IEP).
- Meals
- Most schools provide breakfast and lunch programs for a fee. Free or reduced rates for school lunches are available, and applications must be submitted through the school.
- Activities and Programs
- There are a wide range of activities and organizations throughout the various school districts. Some you can expect to see include band, drama, art, student clubs, National Honor Society, Student Council, team sports, etc. Special programming is also a part of many school districts. This includes programs such as gifted and talented education, special education, English as a Second Language (ESL), drug prevention education and alternative education.
- Exceptional Family Member/Special Education Needs
- Oklahoma has programs and resources for those requiring special education. The Oklahoma State Board of Education provides information and resources for families in need of transitioning and support. The various programs serve the age range of early childhood through young adult.
- Home Schooling
- Homeschooling is another option for children and parents in Oklahoma. As homeschooling is written into the state’s constitution, there is no need to register with any state or local officials. Parents are not required to be certified teachers or use state approved curriculum. However, Home Schooling Legal Defense Association recommends that homeschoolers adhere to the Oklahoma Public School Law.
- Adult Education
- The Base Education Office offers services to active-duty, guard, reserve and their family members. The Base Education Office aims to assist with counseling on schooling, information on tuition assistance and testing for Professional Military Education.
