There are so many activities for each and every military base that we’re asking for your help and listing them. So please tell us what you think the next person PCSing to your location should know about activities on or off base for you and your family.
The 22d Services Squadron operates and maintains facilities for the social, recreation and quality of life programs for all of McConnell's base population and their respective families. Programs include Readiness in Base Services (RIBS), military food services, lodging, mortuary affairs, search and recovery, Honor Guard, child care programs, golf, bowling, youth center, Officer and Enlisted Clubs, fine dining, fitness center, skills development, arts & crafts, outdoor recreation, linen exchange, FamCamp, and other recreational activities. Services also acts as the liaison for AAFES Base Exchange, Shoppette, Military Clothing and Movie Theater plus the DeCA Commissary.
Your assignment at McConnell will be easier and more enjoyable when you take advantage of the myriad of activities and programs offered to you. There is something for everyone. There is relief for the working parent, competition for the athletic sole, support for educational advancement, social events for cohesiveness and more.
A unique feature at McConnell is the Robert J. Dole Community Center (RJDCC). The center was built in 1994 as a multipurpose facility encompassing our fitness center, HAWC, bowling alley, two restaurants, ITT, ballroom, meeting rooms, NAF Human Resources Office, NAF Accounting, and our Officers' and Enlisted Clubs. You will find the Robert J. Dole Community Center a popular place to meet family and friends.
The community center has been expanded to include the Base Library, education offices and classrooms, First Term Airman's Center and the Airman Leadership School.
The men and women of Services encourage everyone to join in the fun and adventure provided by the Squadron. You can call the information telephone number at 759-6007, and/or visit ITT (Information, Tickets & Tours) at RJDCC between 9 am and 5 pm on full duty days. The Services Orderly Room is located in building 1 and the hours are from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm from Monday through Friday. It is closed on holidays and goal days. The Orderly Room phone number is 759-4312.
Wichita is a very sporty and friendly city. There are many opportunites to get involved in this exciting city.
RECREATIONAL: With many nearby parks and lakes, there is a wide range of outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, and water sports.
SPORTING: Wichita State Univeristy has several sporting events as well as local high schools.
RELIGIOUS: There are numerous churches in the area offering programs and activities for everyone.
