Check-in Procedures
If you are on an assignment with the U.S. Air Force and you arrive at McChord Field between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, you will report to the Customer Service Mall, Military Personnel Section, located at 100 Col Joe Jackson Blvd, to schedule all your inprocessing appointments. Air Force members who arrive during non-duty hours, on a weekend, or who need assistance, may contact the Evergreen Inn located 1147 Barnes Blvd or phone 253-982-5613 and 253-584-1471. A staff member at the International Hotel Group (IHG) Army Hotels/JBLM Lewis-McChord facility should be able to assist you with any questions you may have concerning your arrival at McChord. Your sponsor should also be contacted at your earliest convenience. There is no base operator to assist in contacting your unit, there is an automated phone locator available 24-hours. On McChord installation, the number for the locator is DSN 312-382-1110 or commercial 253-982-1110.
Be sure to wear your duty uniform when inprocessing or doing any other official visits at McChord Fld agencies. All uniform combinations are authorized for wear throughout the year. You should remove all patches from other commands from your FSUs prior to wearing them on McChord. Effective 1 May-31 Aug 2014, McChord Field combined Military Personnel Section (MPS) and Finance Service Office (FSO) inprocessing briefing will be held on Mondays thru Thursdays at 9:00-1200 am to accommodate the high PCS season. Members will still report to MPS Customer Service Desk to schedule briefings and will be scheduled to attend the mandatory Joint Newcomers' Orientation. Members must have their Common Access Card (CAC) PIN reset prior to briefing/able to log into McChord computer network. Starting May 2014, the mandatory Joint Newcomers' Orientation and the optional bus tour are held the second Tuesday of every month, start time 7:45 a.m. (for AF members), at the American Lake Conference Center at Lewis-North (off of I-5, Exit 120). Spouses are strongly encouraged to attend. Free on-site childcare is available, (with advanced reservation at 253-982-2695 or 253-967-3633) while attending the Joint Newcomers' Orientation.
