Child Care
Child Development Center (CDC)
We have a Child Development Center (CDC), Child Development Homes (CDH), School Age Care (SAC) and Youth Programs. All of our programs are inspected and certified by the Department of Defense (DoD). Below are brief overviews of our current programs:
Child Development Center
The CDC is located in Building 4706, 361-516-6176, and the hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., and is closed for all Federal holidays.
The Child Development Center provides outstanding care for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age. Its primary goal is to ensure that children in our care are offered every opportunity to flourish in a safe and caring atmosphere that offers an abundance of learning activities. The CDC provides an environment that nurtures and challenges the growth and development of each child. Developmentally appropriate activities and experiences are offered to meet the needs of each child. Families eligible to participate in the program are military dependents, DoD civilians, and contractors onboard NAS Kingsville. All meals and snacks are prepared in accordance with USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines. Full-time and hourly care is available to meet the varying needs of our parents and children. The CDC is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
Child Development Homes
CDH is located in Building 4706, 361-516-6570, the hours of operation vary.
Child Development Home Providers are active duty military spouses who provide quality child care services in their homes for eligible children between 6 weeks and 12 years of age, on a full, part-time or hourly care basis. Hours are flexible and care is excellent. Families eligible to participate in the program are military dependents, DoD civilians, and contractors onboard NAS Kingsville. Providers undergo an extensive background check, orientation training, and home inspections prior to authorization by the Commanding Officer. Homes are monitored on a regular basis and training is ongoing to ensure program quality. Each provider is enrolled in the Child and Adult Care Food Program to ensure children receive nutritious meals. Homes are equipped with state of the art materials and equipment. Currently we do not have any active CDH Providers. We are actively recruiting.
School Age Care
SAC is located in Building 2742, 361-516-6718, hours of operation, after school care 2:15 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., camp hours 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Closed for all Federal holidays.
A variety of activities are offered for children ages kindergarten through 12 years of age. After School Care is a key part of the program. Children are picked-up at area schools and brought back to the SAC Center for snacks, homework assistance, and playtime. Holiday Camps are available during school closings. The SAC Program is currently accredited by the National Afterschool Association (NAA).
Fees
Fees are based on Total Family Income. Your income will be assessed upon registration and will fall into one of 9 income categories. Fees for full time care are due on the 1stand 15th of each month. Hourly care is $5.00 per hour and is due at the time of pick up.
Special Needs
If your child has a Special Need or belongs to the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) contact us to set up a time to discuss your child care needs and to set up a Special Needs Review Meeting. Currently most Special Needs cases are based on food related allergies; lactose intolerance, fruit allergies, etc. Proper menu substitutions usually rectify the situation.
Respite Care
Kids’ Night Out is offered monthly around the middle Friday of the month from 7:00 pm to Midnight. The fee is $10.00 per family. Registration is required by the Wednesday before the event. Both the CDC and Youth Center are open. A minimum of 5 children must be signed up for this event to take place. Children will play outdoors, enjoy a light snack, take part in free play and then watch a movie while parents enjoy an evening out on the town.
