The Virginia Beach area is a great place to live with plenty to do all year round.
Throughout the year and throughout the region, you will find exciting events and festivals offering fun for all.Wonderful things await you in Morale, Welfare, and Recreation on Fort Story and on the surrounding military installations. If we don't have it one of our neighbors does. Call the MWR office at 422-7472 for more information.Fort Story Youth Services plans numerous activities for ages 6-18 every month. Trips to amusement parks, movie theaters, and roller skating are just a few examples. Monthly discussions for youth are also planned. Many educational trips/programs are offered for all youth. The Hampton Roads area is home to many museums, sporting events, concerts, and historical landmarks to enrich and expand the knowledge of all participants.
The Youth Center also gives power to youth through various "in-house" clubs. They include a Girls Club, Sports Club, a Youth/Teen Council, and and Adventure Club.
Fort Story Youth Services also has events and activities planned in conjunction with the Virginia Beach 4-H Chapter.The Youth Center offers a wide variety of social and recreational programs for youth 6-18 years of age. (Ages 6-9 are preteens, ages 10-12 are Jr Teens, and ages 13-18 are teens). Tournaments for pool, ping pong, air hockey, foosball, and other "Recreation" sports are just a few examples. Others include socials, youth discussions, movie and popcorn nights, and a gym for basketball, volleyball, and other sports. Youth Services offers a limited number of sports due to the small population at Fort Story. Baseball/T-Ball is played during the spring through the Oceana Baseball League. Soccer is played during the fall through the Norfolk Naval Youth Soccer League. Finally, basketball is played during the fall - early spring with the Norfolk Naval Basketball League. Sports are offered by the City of Virginia Beach through its recreation centers. These sports include Football, Baseball, Soccer, Basketball, Tennis, and Swimming. Youth Services does various instructional classes to include: Tae Kwon Do, Tap & Jazz, Piano/Violin, Dance, Ballet, and Tumbling. Youth Services offers some sports clinics at different times throughout the year. Clinics are for Soccer, Tennis, Baseball, Flag Football, and Basketball. Activities in the high schools surrounding Fort Story include Football, Soccer, Basketball, Wrestling, Field Hockey, Tennis, Band, Choir, and scholastic and vocational clubs.Check with the post chapel for information on Religious programs for youths.For further information on any Youth Services program or special events during the year please visit the Youth Services Center, BLDG 457.
