Legal Services
The Staff Judge Advocate Office provides legal counsel to commanders on all matters affecting the installation and the mission, typically issues of military law. In addition, the legal office provides legal assistance to active-duty members and their dependents, and the sizeable military retiree population in the Tucson area.
Preventative Law Division
The Preventive Law Division publishes over 70 pamphlets covering everything from adoption, to Soldiers' and Sailors' Civil Relief Act.
Claims Services
The Claims Division assesses and adjudicates claims both for and against the United States and should be consulted when members need to make claims for damage incurred during household goods shipment.
Area Defense Counsel Services(ADC)
The Area Defense Counsel (ADC) at Davis-Monthan is separate from both the Staff Judge Advocate and the base command channels. It reports to the Western Circuit's Air Force Judge Advocate General, headquartered at Travis AFB, CA.
The ADC provides objective legal defense services to military members facing:
- Article 15
- Court martial
- Forced discharge actions
- Investigations by security police or the Office of Special Investigations, as well as any other adverse action in which counsel is required or authorized.
Citizenship
A representative from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) is available the first Thursday of each month to assist military family members with alien registration and citizenship questions and issues.
