Base TLF
Temporary Lodging Facility
There are three options for temporary lodging for transferring service members and their families: Navy Gateway Inns and Suites, Navy Lodge, or local hotels. Keep in mind that only a maximum of 10 days of Temporary Lodging Expense (TLE) is authorized for this area.
Navy Gateway Inns and Suites (NGIS)
NGIS is located on the main base, McCormick Lodge, Building 973, with 130 rooms and is available to any military members and their dependents with a valid ID card to include single and married service members, dependents, retirees, DoD civilians and reservists. Children are allowed to stay at the NGIS. Room capacity is limited to a maximum of three people per room. Members with official orders are given priority. The cost for a standard queen size room is $50 per night and a no-kitchen suite with sofa bed is $65 and suite with kitchen and sofa bed is $75 per night. To make a reservation, go online or call toll free 1-877-NAVY-BED (1-877-628-9233) or call NGIS directly at 360-257-2529 or DSN 312-820-2529 (open and manned 24/7).
Amenities include: free WIFI, free onsite laundry facility, free local telephone calls, hairdryer, free daily in-room coffee/tea, free daily bathroom amenities, free daily newspaper, business center with NMCI and Thinix computers plus printers, exercise room, snack vending machines, cable TV with premium channels, direct dial Sprint service, irons/ironing boards, refrigerator, microwave oven, extra pillow and blanket in closet.
Single service members on Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders or Duty Under Instructions (DUINS) entitled to reside in Unaccompanied Housing (UH) should, upon arrival with their Sponsor, Check-In at NGIS located on the main base, McCormick Lodge, Building 973, and a UH room will be assigned. This will alleviate the need for temporary lodging reservations.
Navy Lodge
Navy Lodge Whidbey Island provides 50 units which accommodate families and business travelers and costs $66 per night from January to May and September to December; and $76 per night from June to August. The lodge is located on the Seaplane Base and is within walking distance to the Navy Exchange, Commissary and downtown Oak Harbor. Reservations at the Navy Lodge can be made up to one year in advance with orders by calling toll free 1-800-NAVY-INN (1-800-628-9466) or online. Make arrangements as soon as possible as the popular summer months often find it filled to capacity.
Amenities included in each room: kitchenette, free local telephone calls, hairdryer, free daily in-room coffee, free daily newspaper, snack vending machines, guest coin operated laundry, cable TV, direct dial AT&T service, air conditioning, cribs, rollaways, irons/ironing boards, movie rental.
