Inprocessing Procedures
When you reach Nellis after duty hours, go directly to the 24 hour arrival point in the Lodging Office to sign in. If you arrive during normal duty hours, go directly to your unit. The Military Personnel Section holds inprocessing Monday – Friday at 9:00 a.m. in building 20, room 319. You must inprocess the base through the Military Personnel Section; they will schedule you for Right Start Newcomers Orientation and your Finance inprocessing appointment. The Military Personnel Section Customer Service number is 702-652-5212 or DSN 312-682-5212.
Remember, if you want to use the Permissive House Hunting benefit, you must sign in first. Your unit is the granting authority for the Permissive House Hunting Benefit.
Sponsorship
Air Force Permanent Party personnel - contact your unit Commander's Support Staff for a sponsor. Sponsorship is mandatory for all personnel below the grade of colonel. If you still do not receive a sponsor, contact the Nellis AFB Airman and Family Readiness Center for assistance.
Air Force Permanent Party Spouse - your military spouse may ask his/her sponsor to get a sponsor for you.
Sister Service members/spouses, Permanent Party - your unit may appoint a sponsor for you and/or send you a sponsor/welcome package. If not, contact the Nellis AFB Airman and Family Readiness Center for a welcome package
Department of Defense civilians - contact your selecting official or personnel office for a sponsor. Sponsorship is mandatory for all personnel below the grade of colonel or civilian equivalent. If you still do not receive a sponsor, contact the Nellis AFB Airman and Family Readiness Center for assistance.
Documents to Hand Carry
1.At LEAST 10 copies of your orders
2.Birth Certificates (or certified copy)
3.Marriage Certificate
4.Copy of advance travel pay or allowances paperwork
5.All moving paperwork including: inventory, TMO information, Self-Procured Move paperwork, and all receipts associated with moving
6.Employment records or resume of civilian family members
7.Medical/dental records from your previous duty station - entire family
8.Immunization records for all children and all active-duty members
9.School records/transcripts for children and adults
10.Pet medical and immunization records
11.RECOMMENDATION: Letters of credit from utilities companies (telephone, electric, etc; may result in waiver for deposits)
Travel Planning
It is important to make temporary lodging reservations early.
Contact either your current family center or the Nellis AFB Airman and Family Readiness Center for relocation planning.
Make sure to keep all receipts - food, gas, lodging, pet expenses, etc - while in transit. Some receipts may be needed when you file your travel voucher upon your arrival. Some receipts may be needed when you file your taxes next year.
Getting Married Enroute
If you get married before you PCS, you must inform your commander and follow the procedures exactly as you are given them. The military will not pay for travel and housing of your spouse if you do not follow the proper procedures.
