Child Development Center (CDC)

The Mountain Home Air Force Base Child Development Center is the focal point for on-base childcare. The Child Development Program is certified by the Department of Defense and is fully accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs (NAYEC). This high quality early childhood program provides a safe and nurturing environment while promoting the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of young children.

The center is located at 450 Gunfighter Avenue and can be reached at 208-828-2443 or DSN 312-728-2443.

Hours of Operation -- The center is open 6:30am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Eligibility - All children ages 6 weeks to 6 years of age, of active duty and DOD civilian employees may use the Child Development Centers (CDC) in accordance with Air Force priorities are eligible to use this facility.

Programs Offered - The Mountain Home CDC offers full day care, part day for school age care, part day-preschool, hourly care and special needs care. A Part-day Enrichment program operates 2 or 3-day per week programs. This program provides a fun, stimulating environment, with developmentally appropriate learning activities offered to the children. Children in each group must be between the ages of 3 and 5 on or before September 1st, and must be potty trained.

Costs - Rates are determined by the total family income and are based on a sliding scale.

Home Day Care Program

The Mountain Home Family Day Care Program serves children ages 6 weeks ot 12 years in a family-style setting. The program offers full time, part-time, hourly care, extended hours during mobility and exercises, evening and overnight care, weekend care and care for children with special needs, including respite care.  Children are offered opportunities to participate in a variety of activities to help develop children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive abilities.  The program has 100 percent participation in the USDA food program, which ensures the children are fed nutritionally balanced meals and snacks.  Each family day care home is inspected monthly for compliance with fire, safety, health and programming standards.  Call for more information and a listing of currently licensed providers.
