Naval Air Station Lemoore is located in Kings County in the San Joaquin Valley. There are 13 public school districts in Kings County with fifty two schools, several of which are charter schools. There are also two private schools in Lemoore. Attendance in public school is determined by a student's residence. Families who would like their children to attend a public school outside their residential boundary can apply for entrance to a charter school, or for an inter or intra district transfer where available. Contact the appropriate school district for rules and requirements governing transfer of your child to a different school district or a different school within your local school district. Interdistrict transfers are not guaranteed and a school district can deny a transfer request. An interdistrict transfer is not required to apply for admission to a charter school; however, charter schools admit students on a space available basis.

Charter Schools

University Charter 5-8, Lemoore Middle College High 9-12, Island Elementary K-8, Pioneer Elementary District Schools K-8 and Kings River Hardwick Elementary K-8 are all public charter schools within driving distance of NAS Lemoore. The "charter" in charter schools is a performance contract detailing the school's program, goals, students served, methods of assessment and ways to measure success. Charter school enrollment is voluntary and is not governed by neighborhood boundaries, which means your child can apply to attend any charter school if the school has space available. Public charters in the area give priority placement to students who live within their boundaries. Applications for charter schools are available at school/district sites, and the open enrollment period for these schools is normally in the spring prior to the fall semester. If charter schools have more students requesting to enroll than space, most form waiting lists.
