There are no DoD schools on NSF Indian Head. Military families living on and off base attend Charles County public schools (CCPS). Charles County has one of the best public education systems in Maryland and the nation. SAT scores that lead state and national averages, high Advanced Placement class enrollments and nationally recognized minority achievement gains demonstrate the school system's continuing success. Before and after school child care programs in selected schools are available through Alphabest, a private vendor. Contact 301-632-6804 for more information. Elementary schools are composed of students from pre-kindergarten to grade five; middle schools have students from sixth to eighth grade; and high schools serve students in grades nine through twelve. Charles County Public Schools consists of 40 schools and educational centers.
