The Cherokee lodge will assist you in securing temporary accommodations. The temporary lodging facilities on base have kitchen facilities, bedroom area, private bath and other conveniences. Student Pilots
Welcome to Vance AFB and the 71st Student Squadron (STURON). The time you spend at Vance will be challenging. Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training (JSUPT) consists of intense training and many 12-hour days. The Team Vance flying, maintenance, and services personnel will assist you in every way we can. Our people are a hard working, friendly, and close knit group which helps make Vance the best base in AETC.
Inprocess with the Training Flight Office in Bldg 690 (Room 34) as soon as possible after checking in at billeting. You must be in uniform (utility uniform is acceptable). You will also need to inprocess through the 71st OSS orderly room between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. Their office is located right next to Training Flight. They can assist you with inprocessing questions and provide you with authorization for your equipment issue. Do NOT have your ISOPREP cards forwarded from your previous units. There is no longer an Intel Flight at Vance AFB and thus no place for the ISOPREP cards to be stored.
JSUPT Classes begin at 7:00 a.m. in Bldg 690 on the date posted in the billeting office. For the first Class Day wear your Service Dress uniform. Please bring a #2 pencil, copies of orders and all records (medical, dental, personnel, etc.) that have not been turned in.
You are entitled to 8 days of permissive TDY to accomplish house hunting. Once you obtain housing contact the Traffic Management Office (TMO inbound) to let them know where to deliver your household goods. Please arrive with enough time to accomplish this before your start date. Once Phase 1 starts, you will not have time during duty days to look for a house. If necessary, there are Preflight Officers able to receive your household goods should you begin training before they arrive. All other inprocessing will be accomplished with your class.
Officers arriving within 10 days of their start date will be given every opportunity to get settled. Officers arriving between 10 and 30 days prior to their start date will be given time to inprocess and may be asked to help with short-term job. Officers arriving more than 30 days prior to their start date will be assigned preflight duties.
Contact the Student Registrar at DSN 312-448-6396 or 580-213-6396 if you have questions about JSUPT or in-processing.
