- Travel Planning
- Reservations for Temporary Lodging should be made as far in advance as possible with the Lodging office. Due to a high travel time during the winter for ski season and early summer due to the Air Force Academy graduation, rooms can be scarce. Call as soon as possible to reserve rooms. For living on base, contact Housing as soon as you can so they can begin working on your request.
- Command Sponsorship
- If the military member doesn’t secure command sponsorship and the family members are NOT on their PCS orders, the military member has to pay out of pocket for travel expenses which may have ramifications for medical, dental, official travel passports and much more. These costs are not reimbursable. Please secure command sponsorship before PCSing from overseas!
- Inprocessing Procedures
- During duty hours, the arrival point for all inbound active duty military members, serviced by the Peterson Military Personnel Section (MPS), is the unit Commander Support Staff (CSS). Outside of normal duty hours, the arrival point for all inbound active duty military members, serviced by the Peterson MPS, is the Peterson Temporary Lodging Facility (TLF). If inbound members report to the TLF, the member or his/her family member (if appropriate) will receive on-base quarters or a non-availability letter. In addition, by reporting to the Peterson TLF, the inbound member's travel time and permissive leave time (if appropriate) can be properly accounted for.
- Any inbound member who has had no contact with his/her sponsor or gaining unit, please contact Customer Support, 719-556-0008/8912/7185/6619. All inbound members should report to their unit and be scheduled for the next available date to inprocess at the MPS. Inprocessing will be accomplished by the unit for the following units: NORAD/NORTHCOM, HQ AFSPC, 721 MSG and sub-units, 13 ASOS, 76 SPCS, 367 RCS, and 554 ISRG.
- If you get Married Enroute
- If you get married before you PCS, you must inform your commander and follow the procedures exactly as you are given them. The military will not pay for travel and housing of your spouse if you do not follow proper procedures
