*There are so many activities for each and every military base that we’re asking for your help and listing them. So please tell us what you think the next person PCSing to your location should know about activities on or off base for you and your family.
*The Services Squadron rents boats, water-skis, fishing gear, and boogie boards. The Banana River runs adjacent to the base and is a great place to water ski and fish. Call Outdoor recreation at 494-2042 for details on how to get a license to rent one of their boats. If you own a boat, there is a marina at Patrick AFB; call 494-7455.
*This is an area for people who enjoy cruises, theme parks, outdoor festivals and sports. Orlando is just over one hour away and has numerous attractions. St Augustine is two hours north and is a very pretty city, full of history and is the oldest city in the United States. Beaches along the coast are well-known. One of the most popular beaches is Daytona Beach, which is about one hour north of Patrick Air Force Base. Cocoa Beach just north of the base made famous by the series "I dream of Jeannie." For those interested in birds and wildlife, Kennedy Space Center has numerous trails for these activities. Launches can be seen from the base and along the highway and it is always an impressive sight.
*Orlando has an array of attractions to choose from. There is Water Mania, Splendid China, MGM, EPCOT, Universal Studios, Disney World, hundreds of restaurants, Medieval Times, Wet 'N Wild, and Seaworld to name some of the better known attractions. Closer to home are attractions such as Kennedy Space Center and Astronaut Hall of Fame.
*Brevard County has one of the most exciting camps for youngsters in the 4th through the 7th grades. It is called Space Camp and offers youngsters the opportunity to build and launch rockets, be part of a space station, eat freeze-dried food like the astronauts, and enjoy a simulated space mission.
