Housing
Privatized (PPV) Housing
The Navy Housing Office maintains a list of currently available apartments, and houses, for sale or rent. This service is designed to save effort and expense during the house-hunting stage of your tour.
Application and Eligibility
Service members or a representative with power of attorney, may apply for base housing anytime after receiving PCS orders and within 30 days of your report to duty date, if you have not sent an application for housing prior to your detaching date. In order to apply for housing upon arrival, the following documents will be required:
- Application for assignment to housing (DD 1746)
- One copy of permanent change of duty station orders
- One copy of current record of emergency data (Page 2) or recall emergency data sheet
- Signed copy of CNIC Housing Sex Offender Policy and Acknowledgement Disclosure (2/11) form
- Power of Attorney (if acting on the military members behalf)
Your control date for base housing will be your detaching date from your last permanent duty station if you apply for housing within 30 days of your report to duty date. Information may be obtained from www.cnic.navy.mil/housing.
Reporting Requirements
All service members who are transferring to the Kings Bay area, with or without dependents, are directed to contact the Navy Housing Services Center before making any off-base housing commitments.
Non-Government Housing
Housing Services Center (HSC) -- The HSC is your contact for any problems you may encounter such as discrimination complaints, tenant/landlord disputes, or any questions or problems about off-base housing is the HSC. The HSC will provide you a list of rentals with corresponding locator maps and give you information regarding the communities in which the rentals are located. All renters should carry renters insurance against fire, theft and other damages. The property owner's insurance will cover the property but not the renters personal property. Transfer coverage after you arrive. Ask about the availability of a Rental Partnership Program if you are planning to rent.
The Rental Partnership Program (RPP) is online at Kings Bay, Georgia. This program is designed to provide military personnel and their families' affordable housing. The Navy Housing Office offers assistance as a liaison between a property manager and renter. A mandatory briefing must be attended prior to participation in this program.
