Non-government Housing
Housing Services Office (HSO) -- The HSO is your contact for any problems you may encounter such as discrimination complaints, tenant/landlord disputes, or any questions or problems about off-post housing. The HRO will provide you a list of rentals with corresponding locator maps and give you information regarding the communities in which the rentals are located. All renters should carry renters insurance against fire, theft, and other damages. Contact the Housing Referral Office at 608-388-3704.
Availability -- Housing availability in local communities is limited particularly in the inventory of 4 and 5 bedroom units.
Utility costs -- Heating costs will fluctuate with the weather, the particular heating system, and a variety of other factors. These costs could be considered relatively high during the winter heating season by someone unfamiliar with Wisconsin's climate. Local power and fuel companies offer budget plans (yearly average paid monthly) to their customers.
