Staging the Inside of Your Home

People buy on emotion and the feeling they get when they can envision their family making a house a home. The importance of setting the stage and creating that emotion for the buyer is huge.

“The average professional home staging costs between three and five thousand dollars. Professionally staged homes sell in an average of 35 days (compared to 175 days for non-staged homes), according to StagedHomes.com”

If you cannot afford a professional, there are some simple steps to take:

Remove furniture from the walls and corners. Open the space and show its flow.

Clean and dust ceiling fans.

Potential buyers love homes that have lots of storage space. Since they will open your closets, it's a good idea to clear out unnecessary clutter. Overstocked closets show a lack of room and a desire for storage space.

An overpacked living room is a red flag to buyers that your home lacks storage space. Pack up unnecessary items and furniture, and move items to a nearby storage facility. Let buyers see your square footage.

Buyers love light and airy rooms. Open your curtains to let some light in.

Although that wedding picture is nice it makes the home to personal and can distract potential buyers from envisioning themselves inside the space.

Remove items that clutter your counters. Stain or paint outdated cabinets and install new hardware for an updated look.

Remove TVs or entertainment centers from bedrooms. Use fresh pillows and neutral linens on the bed.

Store all toothbrushes and personal items in the bathroom and hang new white towels Think of removing the old store-bought plastic soap bottle and replacing with a clean glass bottle instead.

Steam clean all carpets and flooring.
