In Washington,D.C. a child is eligible for kindergarten if he/she is five years old on or before 31 December of the school year. All day pre-care is available for four year-olds on or before 31 December of the school year.
Documents needed to enroll: birth certificate or equivalent, legal proof of residence, and verification of physical exam within the last twelve months. Proof of immunization is required. Transferee must furnish a previous record (such as a report card or a transfer slip) indicating grade level assignment, immunizations and physical exam records, official verification of date of birth and proof of residence.
