Base Regulation

Police (NBVC) -- The NBVC Police are responsible for providing security and law enforcement services at both bases. The Police Division and Security Department, is manned by DOD civilian and military police. It is located in Port Hueneme Bldg 11, inside the Pleasant Valley gate.

Accidents -- All motor vehicle accidents must be immediately reported to the NBVC Police Dispatcher.

Photography -- Due to the sensitivity of the Controlled industrial Areas located on the west side of Pacific Road, photography is strictly prohibited in this area. Exceptions may be granted with the approval of the Public Affairs Officer.

Weapons Registration -- All personal weapons being brought aboard Naval Base Ventura County shall be immediately registered with the NBVC Police, Security Department and de registered upon transfer of ownership and/or upon the day of transfer of the owner. Personnel residing in BEQs must store their weapons in the armory. Personnel residing in Family Housing may store their registered weapons in their quarters provided the weapon(s) and ammunition are separated under lock and key.

Motorcycles

If you ride a motorcycle on military installations, you must wear an ANSI-approved helmet with the chin strap firmly fastened, shoes or boots with leather sides and hard rubber or leather soles, full finger gloves, full-length trousers and a long-sleeve shirt or jacket. A yellow or orange reflective vest with a 1 1/2-inch to 2-inch wide vertical or horizontal reflective stripe in front and back must be worn as an outer garment. You must also have the headlight on.

All motorcycle drivers on Naval Base Ventura County must attend a motorcycle safety course. Temporary decals, valid for 30 days, may be obtained if the rider has written proof they registered for the safety course.

Bicycles

Bicycle Registration -- All bicycles must be registered with the Pass and Decal Office, Security Department. Once registered, each bicycle will be issued an NBVC decal. The owner is responsible for ensuring the bicycle(s) properly secured (locked to a fixed object) when left unattended.

Bicycle Safety Equipment -- Except for within the family housing area, all bicyclists must wear approved (ANSI or Snell) safety helmets when riding on the Center. Bicyclists shall wear light colored clothing and during reduced visibility conditions (sunrise to sunset, fog or rain) reflective clothing or reflective vests must be worn.

Pass and ID office located at each Base:

  • Port Hueneme site -- Located outside the Sunskist Gate - Hours 6:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, Saturday 8:00 am to noon. 805-982-4371.
  • Port Mugu Site -- Bldg 116, parking lot located before the gate. Hours 6:30 am - 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, 805-989-7542.
