Activities


There are so many activities for each and every military base that we’re asking for your help and listing them.  So please tell us what you think the next person PCSing to your location should know about activities on or off base for you and your family. 

Information, Tickets and Tours has tickets for many of the areas attractions.  Tickets are available for Wehrenberg Theaters, Six Flags amusement park, Silver Dollar City, Raging Rivers and White Water parks, Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World and Busch Gardens. 

Rod & Gun Club offers three skeet ranges, as well as an American and International trap range.  There is also space available for archery and a resale shop with reloading supplies, snacks and drinks. 

Outdoor Recreation has a variety of recreational activities. You can make reservations at the campgrounds or picnic pavilions, obtain a fishing permit, rent garden plots, or store your recreational vehicle. A new eight spot tent camping area is available behind the lake.  Reservations are required. A privately owned vehicle (POV) resale lot is available to sell your cars, recreational vehicles, and trucks; rent 75 items of equipment, and participate in trips and outings. All the activities can be rented, obtained, purchased or signed up for through our Outdoor Recreation Center.

Arts and Crafts Center has something for almost everyone to discover from the coin-operated car wash, fine arts and crafts classes, the frame center, plaques and engraving, wood working to the auto center.  For those interested in doing the job themselves, the center offers a do-it-yourself area for most activities. 

The Fitness Center boasts a wide variety of exercise equipment to include a complete line of Cyber equipment, free weights and several models of stationary cycles, rower, stair climber, treadmill, and cross trainers.

If working out on equipment is not your style, enjoy a game of racquetball on one of our two courts, or try an aerobics class.  We also offer a banked elevated indoor running track.  After exercising, relax in the coed sauna.  Locker rooms are complete with showers, towel service and daily use lockers.  The Fitness Center also has special events and runs. James Gym a sports/fitness complex provides intramural and recreational sports for men and women. The facility includes a basketball/volleyball court, racquetball courts, and a weight room with machine weights and free weights, a cardiovascular center contains bikes, stair climber and treadmill. Men's and women's locker rooms, a sauna, and towel service are available. The Family Cardio Room in the James Sports Center is now open to children ages 3 and 4.  Adults can work out while watching their children play on the Jungle Gym. Located outside the facility are softball diamonds, tennis courts, and sand volleyball courts. The Health and Wellness Center is located with the Fitness Center.  The HAWC's mission is to promote wellness and enhance healthy lifestyle behaviors within our military community.  They offer a variety of free classes and services.

The Bowling Center has 24 lanes and features automatic scoring and pin spotter systems.  The pro shop is well equipped for all bowlers' needs.  Lessons are available almost anytime during the day and bowling tips are provided for the more experienced bowlers to help improve their games.

The Spare time Snack Bar within the center provides fast, quality sandwiches, salads, soups, hamburgers, franks and so much more for sit-down, phone-in, or take-out orders.

The Cardinal Creek Golf Course is a par 72, 18-hole golf course located on the east end of the flight line. The course features beautifully landscaped, well-maintained fairways, practice putting and chipping greens, and a practice range. Golf clubs, lockers, and electric carts are among the variety of items available for rent.  The pro-shop is well stocked with quality wearing apparel and a complete line of golfing equipment.  A complete servicing and fitting accompany golf club purchases. The Fairway Snack Bar and Lounge provides healthy meals, snacks and beverages.  It also serves as a convenient place to meet and socialize.

The Library contains over 45,000 titles to include educational, organizational, and recreational materials. The library also has a collection of books-on-tape, books-on-CD, videos, DVDs, and music CDs.  Also accessible are over 100 periodicals and newspapers including popular, business and professional materials.

The Aero Club's fleet consists of Cessna 152 trainers, a Cessna 172, a Piper Warrior, and a twin engine Piper Seminole.  All are available for local and cross-country flights and TDY flights. The Aero Club's flight school is FAA part 141 certified. Private pilot licenses through Airline Transport Pilot ratings are available. A computer trainer is also available for training or keeping IFR proficient. The Scott Club has a main ball room, plus an officer's bar area and enlisted bar area. Brunch is served on Sundays and lunch is served Monday - Friday.  Check cashing is available Monday - Friday. Entertainment is varied, with combos, name-bands, floor shows and cocktail lounge music.  Included in the entertainment schedule is dancing and membership programs. The Scott Club caters all types of parties, banquets and receptions at reasonable prices.

 Scott Lake is the perfect place for a picnic.  The area includes pavilions, tables, barbecue grills and a softball fields.  FamCamp is located near the area.

The swimming pools on Scott are operated by Services Squadron and are open from June to Labor Day.  Lifeguards are on duty to ensure the safety of all swimmers.  Private parties can be scheduled throughout the season.  Certified instructors at the James Pool teach scuba diving classes.

The Base Theater shows recent and award-winning pictures.  A snack bar provides refreshments for patrons in an air-conditioned facility

The Civil Air Patrol meets every Thursday from 7:00PM - 9:30PM.  This program has three missions:  Emergency Services, Cadet Program (12 -18), and Aerospace Education.

Scott AFB has two chapel facilities.  Chapel 1 is located near the Medical Center and Chapel 2 is located near Scott Lake. All Chapel Services are conducted at Chapel 1.  Vacation Bible School is offered in the summer for younger children. There is also a chapel/meditation area located on the 4th floor of the Scott AFB Medical Center.

The Youth Center & Teen Center are offering an exciting schedule of FUN activities for all ages!  Stop in and check out their monthly planned activities.  Teens would you like to go camping, shoot paintballs, or attend pool parties in the summer. Check out these events through the teen center.  FUN for all ages include Six Flag trips, candy bar bingo, movies and popcorn and the annual Easter Egg Hunt.
