Child Development Center (CDC)

 

The Hill AFB Child Development Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). They accept children from six weeks to 5 years of age.

 

The development of the "whole" child and interaction in a social setting are extremely important aspects of the Child Development Program. Affective, social, creative, cognitive, language and physical growth are key elements  In AF CDC programs. Teachers plan age-appropriate weekly curriculum plans that are developed for the individual needs and interests of each child. Classroom curriculum includes social-emotional, physical, lanquage, early literacy, early mathematics, science, technology, creative expression and appreciation of the arts, health, safety, and social studies.

Availability

 

The Child Development Center currently has a waiting list for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old; before entering kindergarten.  A DD Form 2606, Department of Defense Request for Care Record, can be accessed on the Air Force Publications website.  This form can be e-mailed to the CDC front desk by contacting the CDC at DSN 312-777-6321/777-6226 or 801-777-6321/777-6226, or stop by the Child Development Center, Building 470.

 

Eligibility

 

Your child is eligible for enrollment if you or your spouse is military or DoD civilian, to include NAF employees assigned to Hill AFB.  Applicants are accepted and placed on the waiting list based upon AFMC priority listing and date of application.

 

Costs

 

The weekly fee is based upon total family income and includes two meals and one snack each day. This also includes one brand of infant formula and jar baby foods and cereals. All meals and snacks meet USDA requirements. The weekly fees also may include activities for older children such as field trips to the Children's Museum, Pumpkin patch, Trout Farm, Dinosaur Park, Children's Theatre and many more.

 

Drop-In hourly care is provided on a space available basis Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.  Nap time (12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.) is avoided for drop off. Cost is $3 per hour. Reservations for hourly care may be made up to 2 weeks in advance and all registration material must be completed, health assessments and immunizations must be current.

 

Registration

 

Upon notification of placement in the CDC, patrons must complete an enrollment packet and schedule a New Parent Orientation. Enrollment packets include copies of updated immunizations records, health assessment, AF 1181 Registration Form, formula election form, photography election form, contract, DD 2606 Financial Form and other miscellaneous documents.

 

Family Child Care (FCC)

 

Family Child Care is available.  For more information on the Family Child Care Program, call 801-777-0695 or DSN 312-777-0695. Listings of Family Child Care Providers are available at both the Child Development Centers, the Airman & Family Readiness Center, and the Youth Center.  The Family Child Care program offers:

 

    Extended Care Program

    Training for parents and providers (on safety, health and child development issues)

    Lending library for licensed providers

    Aid to parents in search of quality care

    USDA approved meals

    Providers with in home care for:

        before and after school

        weekend and evening hours

        hourly "drop in" care

        infant care

        part-time care

        TDY & shift care

        special needs care

 

    

 

School-Age Programs

 

The Youth Services provides before and after school care and summer programs.  For more information call 801-777-2419 or DSN 312-777-2419. This school-age programs is accredited by the National Afterschool Association.

 

Child Care for PCS

 

This program is intended to help relieve some of the stress felt by families in the process of a PCS move. Families with PCS orders receive a voucher for 20 hours of child care for each child to be provided by certified Family Child Care providers on base, or Affiliated Homes off base. The child care is available 60 days before departing a base, and 60 days after arriving at a new base. This program is sponsored by the Air Force Aid Society.  To obtain a Child Care for PCS voucher, come to the Airman and Family Readiness Center.  At Hill Air Force Base, we are located in building 150.  A copy of your orders is required to obtain a voucher.

 

Give Parents a Break

 

Give Parents a Break is offered one weekend per month at Hill AFB.  Eligible personnel include spouses of deployed or remote tour service members as well as spouses of members TDY 30 days or more.  This program is sponsored by the Air Force Aid Society.  Call 801-777-4681 or DSN 312-777-4681 for scheduled dates.  Reservations must be made by the Wednesday before the GPAB event for priority and  there must be a minimum of eight children signed up for this program for the centers to be open.

 

Special situation referrals may be made by commanders, first sergeants, Airman & Family Readiness Center/Family Advocacy, a medical adviser, chaplain, or CDC directors. Referrals can be made for families who are dealing with stressful situations in their lives.  The scheduled weekend would still apply, as no special dates are set for referrals.  A certificate from A&FRC and all proper documents are still required for referred families.
