Reporting Procedures

Permanent Party

The new Soldier Support Center (SSC) is the first stop for all permanent party Army personnel reporting to Fort Lee during regular duty hours. The Soldier Support Center is a one stop shop facility that includes agencies such as: Housing, Army Community Service, Personnel Service Branch and Military Personnel Division, Vehicle Registration, Transportation, Travel, Defense Military Pay Office, Records Management, ID Card Section, MEDDAC/DENTAC and more.

Army recruiters and MEPS cadre should contact their gaining units for specific instructions. The Soldier Support Center staff sign Soldiers in from Permanent Change of Station (PCS), leave, initiate their financial paperwork, schedules their first appointments and directs them to their new unit.

In addition, the Soldier Support Center provides service to all active-duty military, Family members retiree and their Family members, as well as Department of Defense civilians requiring ID cards for employment. This includes registering eligible personnel in the DEERS system, which gives them access to medical care, post exchange system and the commissary.  Personnel requiring a new I.D. should bring with them all required supporting documentation, (i.e. birth certificate, marriage certificate, power of attorney, etc.) Sponsors are required to accompany family members under most circumstances.

Soldier Support Center (SSC)

The SSC is located at 1401 B Avenue in building 3400, Fort Lee, VA 23801. They can be contacted at 804-734-7784/6722/7752 (during duty hour), 804-765-7606 (after duty hour), or DSN 312-539-7606, fax is 804-734-6986.

The ID Card Section operates under the following hours:

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday: Appointment 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday and Thursday: Appointment 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Walk Ins 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

It is suggested anyone requiring a new ID card make an appointment at the numbers listed below as the wait during walk-in days can be up to two hours.

Military Students

Advanced Individual Training students who are reporting following basic training should report to Company L, Building 8900 on the corner of A Avenue and 27th Street.

Professional Development and Reclassifying Students

Students who are reclassifying or attending professional development courses should report to Company I, located on the corner of A Avenue and 31st Street.

Army Logistics University Students

Arrival and Departure

Students will report to ALU as directed in their orders or by guidance from their respective School’s Welcome Packages (there will be posters in Bldg 12500 and a Report Screen in the front foyer of Bldg 12420 and 12500 with directions to the assigned classrooms or auditoriums for Monday morning Orientation).  Unless otherwise directed by your Course Director, you can expect to graduate not later than 11:00 a.m. on the last day of class.  You should not plan your departure from the Fort Lee area before 12:00 p.m. or from the Richmond International Airport before 1:00 p.m. 

The Registrar’s Office will notify ALU CPCE students of their classroom/orientation status via an information email on/about 45 days from the start of the class.  Any changes in classroom status closer to the start date, students will be notified ASAP.  CLC3 students need to arrive at least two weeks prior to their class start date in order to inprocess through their perspective company and the post.  Student Battalion is NOT open during weekend hours.

Noncommissioned Officers Academy Students

Students will report to ALU as directed by their orders to the respective SLC or ALC Company. Alu is located at 562 Quarters Rd, Bldg 12420 on Fort Lee. A Report Screen in the front foyer of Bldg 12420 and 12500 with directions to the assigned classrooms or auditoriums for Monday morning Orientation.

U.S. Marine Corps

Inbound personnel should report to the USMC Detachment Headquarters located at 2001 31st St, Bldg 9302 near the corner of A Avenue and Mahone Avenue.

NOTE: The Staff Duty Officer (SDO) is available 24-7 in Building 12420 (front entrance, desk straight ahead) in reference to signing-in and answering questions that students may have (reference paragraph b above for phone numbers).

What to do if you Get Married Enroute

If you get married before you PCS, you must inform your commander and follow the procedures exactly as you are given them, the military will not pay for travel and housing of your spouse if you do not follow proper procedures.
